2026 Anzac Day - Venue update

Aussies in Madrid and Gudonya would like to invite you to a get-together to commemorate Anzac Day on Saturday 25 April at 12:30 pm

We’ll be at Camping Osuna on Calle Jardines de Aranjuez s/n, Madrid.

It's an awesome outdoor venue so hopefully the weather will be kind to us. I'll pack the cricket bat and tennis ball just in case.

There’s plenty of parking across the road from Camping Osuna. It's walking distance from El Capricho and Canillejas Metro stations. EMT buses 101 and 105 also stop outside the venue. 

There will be live music at 1:30 pm with Sesión Vermut.

Tickets are 7,77 euros and can be bought online or at the door.

Family friendly. Come one, come all. Everyone is welcome. Pass the word around.

2025 AFL Grand Final - Geelong v Brisbane

Join us to watch a DELAYED showing of the AFL Grand Final between Geelong and Brisbane at the James Joyce Irish Pub in Madrid on the last Saturday of September (no surprise).

We will put the big game on at 11:30 am on Saturday 27 September.

The pub is located on Calle Alcalá 59 between Plaza Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá. We'll be downstairs.

It is important to not reveal the final result for the AFL Grand Final. Gudonya rules state that anyone who even hints at the final result will have to buy a round of drinks for the whole pub. Dinkum!

Basques in Australia exhibition opens in Madrid

The Basques in Australia exhibition has opened in Madrid.

The exhibition looks at the migration process that, throughout the 20th century, took many Basques over 15,000 kilometers from their homes to Australia.

The retrospective is on display at the Madrileko Euskal Etxea (Hogar Vasco de Madrid) and was inaugurated by Australian Ambassador Rosemary Morris-Castico on Monday.

Basques in Australia has been organized by the Euskal Australiar Elkartea (Basque Australian Association) led by its president and Gudonya member Amaia Urberuaga.

It is on display at the Madrileko Euskal Etxea (Hogar Vasco de Madrid) on Calle Jovellanos 3 in Madrid from Monday to Saturday, 11:30 to 14:30 and 17:00 to 21:30.

The exhibition closes on 1 February 2025, entrance is free and it is open to the public.

2023 Australia Day Party: Final Update

Here's the final update for the 2023 Australia Day Party with the latest details of the biggest event of the year.

BARAJAS METRO TRANSFER SERVICE

Dos Dingos has set up a transfer service to and from Barajas Metro Station.

This station should not be confused with Madrid Barajas Airport and therefore does not require a 3-euro airport supplement.

The service will start a 1:30 p.m. and run every 20 minutes or as soon as the car is full.

After 3:00 p.m. the service will run every 30 minutes or, again, as soon as the car is full.

The meeting point is at the bus stop right next to Barajas Metro Station on Calle de la Playa de Riazor.

The car will have a Dos Dingos sign on the dashboard.

Cost is 2 euros per passenger and per trip. Bring cash please.

2023 Australia Day Party: Update 1

Here's a quick update for the 2023 Australia Day Party with all the details of the biggest event of the year.

Firstly, it's an honour and pleasure to organise the get-together with the guys at Dos Dingos Brewery.

They are well organised, they have a great place and most importantly they are top blokes.

It wouldn't be Australia Day without a BBQ so they guys at Dos Dingos will fire theirs up with a lamb chop and sausage sizzle. They are also going to launch their new Aussie beer.

It's going to be a family-friendly event so kids are more than welcome. It's open to family, friends and everyone else too.

We have organised typical Australian activities including backyard cricket, king of the pack footy, thong throwing, pin the tail on the dingo, karaoke and more, with loads of prizes. We will also play Triple J's Hottest 100.

Getting there by car is not too hard but it's a bit difficult by public transport so there will be a transfer service to and from Barajas Metro Station on Line 8 for those who don't want to drive.

Socceroos World Cup Last 16

We are heading back to Dos Dingos Bar and Brewery to watch the Socceroos play Argentina in the World Cup Last 16 at Dos Dingos.

Dos Dingos' Mati and Nico did a great job for the group stage games and we can think of no better place to see the big clash.

Paracuellos de Jarama is a bit of a hike, on the other side of Madrid Barajas Airport, but the effort is well worth it.
